The national para powerlifter in the 107 kg category claimed the gold medal after setting a new world record.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Federation for the, on the fifth day of the World Para Powerlifting Championships in the senior division, Ali Akbar Gharib Shahi, representing Iran in the 107 kg weight class, competed against his rivals.
He successfully lifted 252 kg in his first attempt. In his second attempt, Gharib Shahi lifted 255 kg, breaking the world record and securing the gold medal. In his third attempt, he was unable to lift 260 kg but still captured the world championship title thanks to his second successful lift.
Iran’s national senior men’s team is participating in this event with athletes Hassan Pashapour, Alireza Izadi, Mohsen Bakhtiar, Amir Jafari, Rouhollah Rostami, Saeed Eskandarzadeh, Ali Asghar Ebaraghi, Mobin Mohammadi, Ali Akbar Gharib Shahi, Mehdi Sayyadi, and Ahmad Aminzadeh, under the guidance of Hossein Tavakoli and Ahmad Malahosseini.
