The Iranian national para-taekwondo team successfully defended their Asian championship title for the tenth consecutive edition, securing a remarkable total of 12 medals: 3 gold, 3 silver, and 6 bronze.
According to the Public Relations office of the Federation and citing the Taekwondo Federation website, the championship was held on Friday, August 1, 2025 (10 Mordad 1404), in Kuching, Malaysia, with the participation of 107 athletes from 18 countries. Iran, having won all previous editions, once again topped the podium with these medals.

Highlights from the Men’s and Women’s Competitions:
The men’s team maintained its dominating position by winning the championship again. The women’s team earned the runner-up title.
Saeed Sadeghianpour (63 kg) defeated opponents from India, Kazakhstan, and Saudi Arabia before falling to the Uzbekistani finalist, earning silver.
Mohammad Taha Hassanpour (58 kg) won against athletes from Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei but lost in the semifinals to an Uzbekistani opponent, taking bronze.
In the 80 kg category, Mehdi Pourrahnama secured bronze after victories and a semifinal loss to a South Korean athlete. Alireza Bakht claimed gold by defeating opponents from the Philippines, Kazakhstan, and South Korea in the final.
Amir Mohammad Haghighatshenas (70 kg) captured silver after wins over athletes from India, China, and Uzbekistan, falling to a Thai competitor in the final.
Hamed Haqshenas won the 80+ kg gold medal by overcoming challengers from India, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
Marzieh Nasrollahi secured the women’s 65+ kg gold by defeating opponents from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
In the women’s 57 kg division, Zahra Rahimi and Maryam Abdollahpour both advanced, with Abdollahpour winning their semifinal clash and earning silver after an injury in the final against a Chinese athlete.
The bronze medals were won by Roza Ebrahimi (52 kg), Ailar Jami (47 kg), and Leila Mirzaei (65 kg).
Coaching and Team Management:
The men’s team is coached by Payam Khanlarkhani, assisted by Mehdi Ahmadi.
The women’s team is led by head coach Atefeh Keshavarz with assistant coach Leila Khazaei.
Jamsheed Sohrabi, President of the Para-Taekwondo Association, serves as team supervisor.
