Engagement with African Countries as an Opportunity to Develop Sports Diplomacy for the Veterans and Disabled Sports Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran

A cordial meeting was held focusing on sports diplomacy in African countries with the participation of Dr. Jalil Koohpayezadeh, President of the Federation; Hossein Pour, Advisor to the President on Economic Partnerships and Social Responsibilities; Dr. Chinigorzadeh, President of the Muslim Doctors Without Borders Association; and Dr. Mohsenzadeh, Board Member of the Charitable Assembly Supporting Veterans and Disabled Sports.

According to the Public Relations office of the Federation:

Dr. Koohpayezadeh stated that the meeting aimed to identify various influential social, health, sports, and economic aspects of international relations with African countries. It represents an opportunity to deepen and expand the Federation’s international engagements with African nations after thorough evaluations.

The Federation plans to provide educational programs, sports services, and sports equipment in these countries.

This platform will be further developed through consultation and leveraging the expertise and experiences of specialists and stakeholders.

Dr. Chinigorzadeh warmly welcomed the initiative to expand sports diplomacy through connections with African countries, highlighting Iran’s experience and expertise in Paralympic sports as an excellent basis to address the sporting gap for people with disabilities on the African continent.

He expressed hope to contribute significantly by sharing expertise and supporting the development of sports for individuals with disabilities in Africa in collaboration with the Veterans and Disabled Sports Federation.
