According to the Public Relations of the Federation and citing the National Paralympic Committee, following previous correspondence from the committee’s president to the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Dr. Ghafour Karimi, President of the National Paralympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran, sent a letter yesterday to all National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) worldwide, calling for the suspension of Israel’s membership from the global Paralympic sports structure.
The letter described the recent military aggressions by the Israeli regime against Iranian territory, which resulted in the martyrdom of numerous athletes and civilians, as behavior contrary to the principles of the Paralympic Charter and international law. The global Paralympic community was urged to condemn these actions and support the suspension of Israel’s membership in the IPC.
Previously, the President of Iran’s National Paralympic Committee had formally addressed Andrew Parsons, President of the IPC, demanding a decisive response to Israel’s unethical and illegal actions and calling for its suspension.
This move aligns with the principled stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran in defending territorial integrity, supporting sustainable peace, and opposing blatant aggressions. It also forms part of Iran’s active sports diplomacy on the international stage.
