The national para powerlifters of Iran in the 97 kg category competed against their rivals today.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Sports Federation for the Disabled and War Veterans, on the fifth day of the World Para Powerlifting Championships in the senior division, Ali Asghar Ebaraghi and Mobin Mohammadi, representing Iran in the 97 kg weight class, faced their opponents.
Ebaraghi failed to lift 215 kg in his first attempt but successfully lifted the same weight on his second attempt. In his third attempt, he managed to lift 227 kg, earning third place in the world and claiming the bronze medal.
Mobin Mohammadi, the other Iranian representative in this category, successfully lifted 211 kg in his first attempt and 217 kg in his second. He was unable to lift 223 kg in his third attempt and ultimately finished in sixth place globally.
Iran’s national senior men’s team is participating in this event with athletes Hassan Pashapour, Alireza Izadi, Mohsen Bakhtiar, Amir Jafari, Rouhollah Rostami, Saeed Eskandarzadeh, Ali Asghar Ebaraghi, Mobin Mohammadi, Ali Akbar Gharib Shahi, Mehdi Sayyadi, and Ahmad Aminzadeh, under the guidance of Hossein Tavakoli and Ahmad Malahosseini.
The senior competitions are being held from October 10 to 17 (Mehr 19–26), with the final day dedicated to team events. In total, 542 athletes from 71 National Paralympic Committees are participating in this championship.
