Dr. Jaleel Koohpayezadeh, president of the Federation, stated that with the support of the Ministry of Sports, they are building the country’s golden generation of Paralympic athletes. He emphasized that despite the change of host city for the 2025 Youth Para Asian Games, preparations for the national athletes continue with strength. The original host city was Tashkent, but the event was moved to Dubai, UAE.
Dr. Koohpayezadeh praised the ministry and the National Paralympic Committee for their support and congratulated the boccia national team for their valuable medal achievements, highlighting their remarkable performance in response to these supports.
He noted the key role of the Youth Para Asian Games in the future of the country’s sports and mentioned the early start of national teams’ training camps ahead of the Paris Paralympics. Although the transfer of hosting duties posed challenges, all training and support programs have continued with full capacity.
For the first time, archery will be featured in these games, and extensive talent identification and training have begun for promising young athletes. Preparations for eight sports disciplines dispatched by the federation are underway through centralized and decentralized camps, with electronic health records created for athletes and support from nutritionists, psychologists, and masseurs to maintain their physical and mental well-being.
Multiple educational courses, including anti-doping, media literacy, and cultural topics, have also been conducted to fully prepare athletes for international competitions.
Dr. Kohpayezadeh stressed the need for more support to improve camp quality, equipment, sports venues, and nutritional supplements. With steady support from the Ministry of Sports and National Paralympic Committee, the federation aims to nurture a powerful generation for the future of Iran’s sports for veterans and disabled athletes.
