Iranian Special Olympics Equestrians Shine with 9 Medals at MENA 2025 in Al Ain, UAE

 

The Iranian Special Olympics equestrian team made a spectacular mark by winning 9 colorful medals—5 gold and 4 silver—at the MENA 2025 regional competition in Al Ain, UAE, showcasing a historic achievement in the field of equestrian sport for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

According to the Public Relations office of the Federation and the Equestrian Federation, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 (5 Shahrivar 1404), Iranian riders excelled in trail riding and show jumping events, securing 2 gold and 2 silver medals for the country.

Trail Riding Medals:
Mohammadreza Bayat (BI3 category) – 1st place

Amirhossein Bafrani (CI2 category) – 2nd place

Show Jumping Medals:
Seyedeh Shoa Hasanpour (BI3 category) – 1st place

Mohammadreza Bayat (BI3 category) – 2nd place

On the first day of the competition, the Iranian Special Olympics equestrian team had already achieved outstanding results with 3 gold and 2 silver medals in dressage and showmanship events.

With this impressive total of 9 medals, the Iranian team not only brought pride to the nation but also took a significant step toward securing qualification for the 2027 Special Olympics World Games in Chile.

The Iranian delegation, consisting of Shoa Hasanpour, Mohammadreza Bayat, and Amirhossein Bafrani, participated under the guidance of coaches Elham Mosaddeghi and Amirhossein Zakari, with team supervisor Ali Tahayi. They are scheduled to return to Tehran on August 27, 2025 (6 Shahrivar 1404).
