Three-Year Countdown to Los Angeles Paralympics Begins / Unveiling of New LA28 Emblems

With the official launch of the three-year countdown to the first-ever Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, the event’s organizing committee has unveiled two new exclusive symbols in the LA28 emblem.

According to the Public Relations office of the Veterans and Disabled Sports Federation and the National Paralympic Committee, and as reported on the LA28 website, the countdown has begun for the 18th Summer Paralympic Games to be hosted by Los Angeles. To mark this milestone, LA28 unveiled two new emblem animations: “Endless Reinvention” and “Unlimited Creativity.” These motifs reflect the themes of innovation, transformation, and inspiration central to the lead-up for these two major sporting events.

LA28 Paralympic Logo
First unveiled in 2020, the LA28 logo has seen over 50 unique designs, each echoing the city’s vibrant culture, creativity, and inclusivity. The logo is specifically designed for the digital era, fusing the “L” and “A” for Los Angeles with the number “28,” and features a dynamic “A” that can change in animated form. Each new animation tells a fresh story about the spirit and diversity of the Games.

New Symbolism
To commemorate the three-year milestone until the Games, LA28 introduced “Endless Reinvention”—an animated “A” designed as a multi-layered mosaic symbolizing the evolving power and transformative journeys of Paralympic athletes. This visual tells a story of constant redefinition, resilience, and boundary-breaking.

“Unlimited Creativity” is another emblematic motif, emphasizing innovation, progress, and the pursuit of new possibilities. It narrates the journey of athletes experimenting, creating, and eventually finding their path to showcase their immense potential and talents in Los Angeles.

Commitment to a Memorable Legacy
Reynold Hoover, LA28’s Executive Director, stated:
“Three years from the 2028 Games, we’re determined to make Los Angeles’ first Paralympic hosting a truly unforgettable event. These Games are a unique opportunity to change perceptions about people with disabilities, foster inclusion, and cement the global status of the world’s third-largest sporting event.”

Karen Bass, Mayor of Los Angeles, said:
“This is a historic first for our city. For L.A.’s youth—especially those with disabilities—it’s so important to see inspiring global role models up close. We are committed not just to hosting accessible Games, but to leaving a lasting legacy for the disabled community.”

Legacy and Achievements
For the first time, Los Angeles will welcome the Paralympic Games with 23 sports, an anticipated 4,480 athletes, and millions of spectators worldwide. A significant highlight is the addition of para climbing to the Paralympic program, with 80 female and male athletes set to compete at the Long Beach Climbing Hall.

The 18th Summer Paralympic Games will be held from August 16 to August 28, 2028, in Los Angeles.
