According to the Public Relations office of the Federation and the National Paralympic Committee, at the close of the first day of the APC General Assembly, an awards ceremony recognized Asia’s outstanding figures in various categories. Zahra Nemati, head coach of Iran’s National Para Archery Team and a decorated archer, was honored as Asia’s Best Official.
Nemati’s name is synonymous with resilience, excellence, and leadership in sports. Her inspirational journey has made her a role model across Asia and the world. Her remarkable sporting achievements, leadership in sports management, athlete development, and impactful contributions to the field made her a deserving recipient of this award.
In addition to winning numerous medals in prestigious competitions such as the Paralympic Games and the Para-Asian Games, Nemati now plays a key role in nurturing a new generation of champions as the head coach of the national team.
She has also effectively represented athletes’ concerns at the highest management levels through active participation in international paralympic committees, as well as the national Olympic and Paralympic committees, giving voice to athletes.
Nemati has taken significant steps in securing financial support from both governmental and private sources, contributing substantially to the development of sports for people with disabilities.
She was awarded the APC Best Official Award by Majid Rashid, APC President, and delivered a speech upon receiving the honor.
During the ceremony honoring Asia’s best, awards were also presented for categories including Best Female Athlete, Best Male Athlete, Best Team Performance, Best Young Athlete, Best Sports Photographer, Best Performance of National Paralympic Committees, and the Asia Honorary Badge.
The selection of APC awardees in various categories aligns with the policies of the International Paralympic Committee, particularly regarding gender equality. The APC Executive Board, after preliminary reviews and voting, finalized the list of honorees.
