A cordial meeting was held between officials of the Veterans and Disabled Sports Federation and the Workers’ Sports Federation to enhance intersectoral cooperation and joint efforts.
According to the Public Relations office of the Federation, this session gathered leadership from both federations to discuss expanding collaborations.
Dr. Jalil Koohpayeh Zadeh, President of the Veterans and Disabled Sports Federation, stated that the federation currently oversees nine Paralympic sports disciplines that are significant medal contributors in Para-Asian and Paralympic competitions. He emphasized the need for cross-sector collaboration, noting that aside from veterans and disabled athletes, many workers suffer disabilities due to workplace accidents.
He continued that initiating cooperation between the Veterans and Disabled Sports Federation and the Workers’ Sports Federation presents an important opportunity to bring disabled workers into the sporting arena. Athletes with disabilities have repeatedly demonstrated strong willpower and determination through their international successes.
Dr. Koohpayeh Zadeh proposed that by signing a memorandum of cooperation, festivals and talent identification competitions for workers with disabilities can be organized. With active support from the provincial boards of both federations, new talents can be added to the prestigious sports community of veterans and disabled athletes.
At the conclusion of the meeting, an agreement was reached to formalize the cooperation through a memorandum, and to hold further sessions aimed at launching organized sports programs specifically for workers with disabilities, thereby fostering their participation in sports.
In response, Mr. Ramzi, President of the Workers’ Sports Federation, welcomed the collaboration and expressed commitment to advancing sports for workers with disabilities. He added that through cooperative efforts, they can help identify talented athletes in this sector
