Dr. Koohpayeh Zadeh Emphasizes Importance of Utilizing Global Technical Expertise and University Professors’ Involvement in Sports Federations

Dr. Jalil Koohpayeh Zadeh, President of the Federation, participated in the unveiling ceremony of the National Sports Spatial Planning Plan on Saturday, August 2, 2025 (11 Mordad 1404). The event was held at the Ministry of Sports and Youth and attended by Dr. Mohammad Reza Aref, First Vice President of Iran; Dr. Ahmad Danyamali, Minister of Sports and Youth; Dr. Koohpayeh Zadeh; and other heads of sports federations.

Dr. Koohpayeh Zadeh described v disabled sports as an inspirational sector for society. He expressed hopes that the government, especially through its legislative and funding authorities, will create opportunities enabling veterans’ and disabled athletes—particularly in mass sports—to develop stronger and clearer identities on sporting fields.

During the meeting, he highlighted the need for sustainable financial resources to support sports federations, which operate as non-governmental public organizations. While these federations generally rely on government assistance, in recent years, they have been fully financially supported by the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and the National Olympic and Paralympic Committees.

Dr. Koohpayeh Zadeh formally requested the First Vice President to facilitate, through Article 78 of the 7th Development Plan Law and the comprehensive club management law, a mechanism for tax offsets via one percent value-added tax incentives for investors in the sports sector.

Importantly, the Federation president underscored the critical role of integrating modern technical knowledge and the participation of professors from universities of sciences and medical sciences into sports federations. He noted that this integration is key to advancing sports development at national and international levels and bridging the scientific community with the operational bodies of federations and provincial boards.

He stressed that  disabled sports can greatly benefit from leveraging the expertise and presence of university academics to ensure more effective, innovative, and research-based progress in the field.
