The National Association of Philanthropists Supporting Persons with Disabilities held a meeting today hosted by the Federation .
Dr. KoOhpaye Zadeh, President of the Federation, expressed his condolences for the mourning period of Imam Hussein (AS) and hoped that this occasion would mark a new beginning for greater collaboration and support from the philanthropic community towards disabled sports. He highlighted that the foundation of the federation was laid by proud veterans of the Sacred Defense, whose determination paved the way for the athletes’ path to championship and honor. Today, the federation witnesses the continued development of this journey.
He added that sport plays a vital role in maintaining health and motivating individuals with disabilities. Accordingly, the federation and its provincial boards have expressed readiness to engage veterans and those disabled in the recent 12-day war through sports, facilitating their reintegration into society.
Dr. KoOhpayeZadeh emphasized that sports are essential for persons with disabilities and that the federation acts as a pathway for their social inclusion. In this context, the federation seeks to launch the Disabled Sports House initiative nationwide with the help of philanthropists, aiming to equip sports halls and create spaces for veterans and persons with disabilities to participate in sports.
Philanthropists’ Support and Pilot Provinces
The philanthropists approved the Disabled Sports House initiative and expressed readiness to support its equipment needs. The project will initially be piloted in the provinces of Isfahan, Mazandaran, Kermanshah, South Khorasan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Hormozgan, Golestan, Gilan, Markazi, and Tehran. Additionally, qualified individuals will be appointed as coordinators and executors in other provinces.
Priority for Athletes in Receiving Livelihood Support
The meeting also stressed that athletes with disabilities should be prioritized in receiving philanthropic support services, including housing, medical treatment, dowries, and livelihood packages.
Allocation of 30 Million Toman Loans to Eligible Disabled Athletes
Another resolution allocated 30 million toman loans to eligible disabled athletes.
Members emphasized the continuation of regular meetings and agreed to prepare the groundwork for drafting an official cooperation memorandum between the National Association of Philanthropists Supporting Persons with Disabilities and the Federation of Sports for the Disabled and Persons with Disabilities.
At the end of the session, members of the philanthropists’ association visited the training sessions of the national wheelchair basketball team.
