Dr. Koohpayezadeh in Provincial Webinar Meeting: Focusing on Youth and Student Sports Guarantees the Continuity of Success for Disabled Sports in the Future

The third monthly webinar meeting of federation officials with provincial and county sports boards for the year 1404 (2025) was held today, Sunday, July 29, 2025.

According to the Public Relations of the Federation ,Dr. Koohpayezadeh, President of the Federation, began the session by expressing condolences on the occasion of the mourning days for Imam Hussein (AS), the master of martyrs. He condemned the brutal attacks by the Zionist regime and the criminal United States on the sacred soil of the Islamic Republic of Iran, offering condolences and sympathy for the martyrdom of commanders, scientists, women, children, and defenseless civilians. He praised the armed forces and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for their decisive responses to the Zionist regime’s aggressions, attributing the valuable victory to the wise leadership of the Supreme Commander.

He continued, expressing hope that following this victory, the disabled sports community will perform even better than before and that national athletes will raise the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran more proudly on international stages.

The federation president added that the federation and provincial boards have started their activities more powerfully than ever, hoping that this momentum will continue with success in the Islamic Countries Games and the Para-Asian Youth Games.

Dr. Koohpayezadeh noted that despite financial limitations in the first three months of the year, training camps and delegations were held successfully. The national teams in para-swimming, para-athletics for students, and the women’s sitting volleyball team achieved good results, signaling promising days ahead for the federation’s national teams.

He stated that in the remaining months leading up to the Para-Asian Youth Games, efforts will be made to ensure athletes’ preparation continues so they can participate fully ready and defend the country’s championship title.

The president emphasized that attention to grassroots, youth, and student sports guarantees the continued success of disabled sports. He stressed the need for unity, cooperation, and talent identification to discover promising athletes and introduce them to competitive sports, ensuring the best athletes participate in competitions.

Dr. Koohpayezadeh added that by updating the talent identification software and leveraging artificial intelligence, the federation will be more active than ever in talent scouting and community sports, creating opportunities for people with disabilities nationwide to engage in sports.

Regarding 3×3 wheelchair basketball, he said the federation is making special investments in this discipline. Due to the Zionist regime’s attacks, the men’s and women’s national teams’ participation in the Asia-Oceania Championship in China was canceled, but their training camps will resume soon in a centralized manner.

He noted that supporting 3×3 wheelchair basketball opens the door for provincial boards to invest in this exciting sport at lower costs.

On the continuation of training camps, Dr. Koohpayezadeh explained that plans for centralized and decentralized preparation camps have been made and will be announced soon. Efforts are underway to continue competitions, with the federation hosting a four-nation sitting volleyball tournament in early August in Khorasan Razavi province. Negotiations are also ongoing to prepare the men’s five-a-side wheelchair basketball team for a friendly tournament.

He added that scientific webinars organized by the Asian Paralympic Committee are ongoing, with speakers and instructors from Iran participating. These sessions are valuable, and officials can access the content through a provided link.

In closing, the federation president announced that with the approval of the Minister of Sports and Youth, a memorandum of understanding will be signed between the federation, provincial boards, and provincial sports and youth departments to clarify the process for receiving budgets and facilities for provincial boards through these departments.

During the meeting, officials from several provincial and county boards shared their views and suggestions.
