The development of IRISFD is a special focus of the Ministry of Sports and Youth.

In a joint meeting held after visiting the national boccia team’s training camp, Fariba Mohammadian, Deputy for Women’s Sports Development at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, emphasized the importance of targeted talent identification in sports for veterans and persons with disabilities.

She stated that early identification and nurturing of talents, tailored to their physical and psychological characteristics, can pave the way for lasting achievements. She stressed the need for a professional approach to these sports, supporting and guiding each athlete not only by common standards but with a deep understanding of their unique abilities.

Mohammadian added that experience shows that with precise planning at the foundational stages, champions can be developed even with limited resources. Fortunately, the Minister of Sports has a supportive and forward-looking view toward this sector, which provides great encouragement to athletes, their families, and federation officials.

She also highlighted a shift in perspectives: sports for persons with disabilities is no longer merely an emotional endeavor but has become a specialized field requiring long-term strategies, scientific program design, and specialized training. Therefore, attention to the individual characteristics of each athlete is essential to design programs suited to their specific conditions and capabilities.
