In a specialized meeting focused on preparations for the 2025 Nagoya Asian Para Games, Dr. Kouhpaye Zadeh, President of the Federation of Sports for the Disabled and Persons with Disabilities, emphasized that with the supportive outlook of the Minister of Sports and Youth, the growth and development of the boccia sport will accelerate.

Dr. Kouhpaye Zadeh highlighted that boccia is the third most popular sport within the target community, and there is an expectation for the federation to provide the necessary environment for the sport’s development and success. He expressed hope that with the positive perspective of the Minister of Sports and Youth, strong support will be given to boccia.

He also noted the need for a well-equipped shooting range to sustain and continue the successes in para-shooting, as current training camps use the Azadi Complex facilities, and having a dedicated space would be highly beneficial.

Alongside national team training camps, the federation has initiated coaching courses at various levels, established electronic health and technical files for athletes, begun performance assessment of national players, and started utilizing artificial intelligence.

Dr. Kouhpaye Zadeh added that the expansion of sports disciplines in the upcoming Asian Youth Para Games in the UAE has created an opportunity to form national youth teams in boccia and para table tennis, enabling the identification of young talents.

Dr. Nasiri, Vice President of the Federation, stated that efforts continue to achieve gender parity between male and female athletes in the country’s sports delegations, with ongoing support from the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the National Paralympic Committee.

Nizami, Secretary General of the Federation, emphasized the increasing need to leverage global knowledge and the associated costs to sustain and enhance championship successes. He expressed hope that with the Minister’s positive view, the federation will receive increased and comprehensive support from both the Ministry of Sports and the National Paralympic Committee in the coming year.

In the meeting, Tabatabaian, President of the Boccia Association, and Ehteshamzadeh, Head of the Para Table Tennis Association, also shared their perspectives.
